Kurukshetra: Police here have arrested two brothers from Lalru, Mohali, for allegedly killing their sibling and dumping his body in the Narwana Branch canal in Haryana’s Kurukshetra district, police said on Thursday.The accused — Rajendra Kumar and Rakesh Kumar, residents of Golu Majra village in Lalru, Mohali district — were arrested and remanded to two days’ police custody.The deceased was identified as Gurmukh Singh, their brother.Police said the body of an unidentified man was found floating in the canal near Dalla Majra village on March 20, with his hands and legs tied with a rope. A case was registered at Ismailabad police station and the body was sent for postmortem.Investigators said the case was cracked using technical evidence, CCTV footage and intelligence inputs.During questioning, the accused allegedly told police that Gurmukh had been suffering from mental health issues for several years and would often turn violent, causing distress within the family.Police said the brothers allegedly hatched a conspiracy on March 12 and took him from their village on the pretext of getting him medical treatment. On the way, they allegedly bought a plastic rope, took him to a canal near Ismailabad, tied his hands and legs, and threw him into the canal.Further investigation is underway.
