Bengaluru: BJP’s Shirahatti MLA Chandru Lamani and his two personal assistants were Sunday remanded in judicial custody until March 3.A team headed by Dharwad superintendent of police ST Siddalingappa trapped the trio red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe Saturday.
Lamani, accused of demanding Rs 11 lakh from a contractor for a project, was allegedly caught receiving Rs 5 lakh from him at Laxmeshwara in Gadag district. A case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act.The MLA and his aides — Manjunath Valmiki and Guru Nayak — were produced before special court judge Santosh Gajanan Bhat at his residence near Yelahanka Sunday. As the judge remanded them to judicial custody for 10 days, they were lodged in the central prison at Parappana Agrahara.Lokayukta sleuths did not seek their custody.
