Varanasi: Just 18 days after a quack’s botched C-section killed a pregnant woman in Ballia, another shocker from the district came to light on Friday evening when the bodies of a woman and her newborn twin daughters were found dumped near the toilet of a private hospital near the CMO office in Jagdishpur. District magistrate MP Singh said: “Health department officials sealed the hospital where the bodies of a woman and her newborn twin daughters were found dumped.” After lodging an FIR, the CMO and other senior officials were asked to conduct a detailed investigation to initiate exemplary action against those putting the lives of patients at stake.” Officials said OTs of another hospital with a similar setup have also been sealed. More hospitals are under the lens, they added.ASP (Southern) Kripa Shankar said an FIR was lodged against hospital operator Chandrashekhar Singh, his doctor son and four unidentified staff members based on the family’s complaint. The police also took the hospital operator into custody. The bodies were handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination. Rinku Yadav, 25, from Rampur Boha village was taken to the private hospital near the CMO office by an ASHA worker when she went into labour instead of a CHC in Dubahad or the govt women’s hospital. The hospital operator claimed that his doctor son would handle the surgery. The victim’s brother said her sister and twins died allegedly due to the negligence of the doctors.When Rinku’s family alerted police and senior officials in the district administration, a team from the health department reached the hospital on Friday evening and questioned the management. The hospital operator allegedly misled the team, saying that the family members took the bodies. When the family disputed this, the investigation led to the gruesome discovery – the bodies were found dumped in a dustbin near the toilet.The family’s outrage boiled over when they saw the bodies and soon hundreds of people blocked the district hospital road demanding action against the hospital staff. The CMO office area has become infamous for quacks performing surgeries, including C-sections. On Feb 23, a woman died while undergoing a Caesarean delivery at a private hospital in the area. During the probe, it was revealed that the hospital was unregistered and a quack had performed the surgery.
