An earthmover was then brought in to pull the vehicle from the water. Police said the bodies of both men had been underwater for an extended period, resulting in significant decomposition.Tonk superintendent of police Rajesh Kumar Meena said, “Both men had been unaccounted for since early Jan, prompting their families to file a missing report with local police”. He said preliminary findings indicated the men likely died of suffocation after the vehicle entered the pond. Both bodies were found on the rear seat, and investigators believe they may have tried to help each other as the car filled with water and the doors could not be opened. Meena said the exact circumstances of death will be determined after further investigation. Police suspect the vehicle may have gone into the pond at a turn on the road late at night as the two were returning home in a car borrowed from a relative.
