Bhubaneswar: BJP on Sunday postponed elections for state president and national council members, originally scheduled for completion by July 1. The decision came in the wake of the stampede in Puri that killed three.The announcement was made by the state election officer and Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, who expressed deep sorrow over the incident. “We are deeply saddened by the Puri incident, and in light of this tragedy, we have decided to defer the election process,” Sarangi said.The party has not yet announced a new date for the elections, emphasising that the focus remains on supporting those affected by the disaster.
