Varanasi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised events at the regional office located at Rohaniya and the city office in the Gulab Bagh area on Monday to celebrate its Foundation Day.At the ceremony organised in the Rohaniya office premises, BJP functionaries elaborated on the party’s struggle-filled history, nationalism and resolve for public welfare. The presence of hundreds of workers and Jan Sangh-era senior workers at the ceremony gave the programme a historic character. Addressing the programme, BJP regional president Dilip Patel said that BJP is the only party in the country that works with the spirit of ‘Nation First’. He said that inspired by the ideals of nationalism, democratic values and integral humanism, BJP has always been committed to nation building and social welfare.BJP district president and MLC Hansraj Vishwakarma said that the foundation day of BJP is not merely a remembrance of the establishment of a political party, but a symbol of the resolve for national service, good governance and bringing glory to India on the world stage. He said that under Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has created a distinct identity on the global stage.The programme was also attended by MLC Rai Dharmendra Singh and others. Jan Sangh-era senior workers were honoured on the occasion. At the Gulab Bagh city office, party workers celebrated the foundation day programme with great fanfare under the chairmanship of city president Pradeep Agrahari.The party flag was hoisted by Agrahari, stamp and registration state minister Ravindra Jaiswal, former legislative council member Veena Pandey, Prem Kapoor and senior party worker Subhash Gupta in the presence of party workers. The programme was attended by mayor Ashok Tiwari, Vidyasagar Rai, Sudhir Mishra, Rahul Singh and others.
