Ranchi: Campaigning for the upcoming Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) picked up pace on Monday as mayoral candidates crisscrossed neighbourhoods in bike rallies and padyatras to step up direct voter outreach.Hundreds of supporters joined the rally led by JMM-backed mayoral candidate Sujeet Vijay Anand Kujur, contesting on brick symbol, with motorcycles decked in party flags. Riders chanted slogans as they moved through key localities. The rally was accompanied by senior leader and general secretary of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Supriyo Bhattacharya, who greeted residents and appealed for support.
“Our focus is on strengthening sanitation, drainage, drinking water supply and transparent civic administration. We are reaching out directly to residents to understand their concerns and seek their mandate for a better Ranchi,” Kujur said.BJP-backed mayoral candidate Roshni Khalkho, contesting on biscuit symbol also intensified her campaign through padyatras, ward-level meetings and door-to-door contact programmes, seeking support on issues of infrastructure and civic delivery. Meanwhile, Congress-backed candidate Rama Khalkho (bench symbol) undertook a padyatra in Hindpiri area covering wards, accompanied by state minister Deepika Pandey Singh.Addressing the residents during the march, Rama emphasised the need for strong and sensitive leadership to ensure Ranchi becomes cleaner, better managed and development oriented.Another mayoral aspirant, Surendra Linda (camera symbol), will take out a padyatra on Tuesday from Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Football Ground to Bhagwan Birsa Munda Smadhi Sthal in Kokar, with supporters expected to join in large numbers.Devi Dayal Munda, another mayor candidate also addressed small gatherings in several wards, urging voters to prioritise grassroots development and accountability.
