Varanasi: The BHU constituted two committees to investigate the incident of firing near Birla ‘A’ on the campus.The administration clarified that students found guilty will be debarred and named FIRs would be filed against them. According to the BHU spokesperson, the university administration constituted a two-member committee and a five-member committee to investigate the matter.The firing incident occurred on Saturday night after a dispute between students and security personnel. The chief proctor’s office received information around 9:20 pm, after which the proctorial board and security personnel reached the spot. The administration is also investigating possible involvement of external elements.In the firing case, a named FIR was filed against five persons, including Piyush Kumar Tiwari, Rishabh, Tapas, Kshitij Upadhyay and Abhishek Upadhyay, at Lanka police station.Kshitij Upadhyay and Abhishek Upadhyay are already externed from the district. Kshitij was externed for six months in January. Both have several cases registered against them in various police stations previously. After the recent incident, three new FIRs were filed against Abhishek and two against Kshitij. An FIR was also filed against approximately 40 unknown students on charges of scuffling with security personnel, using abusive language and blocking roads to protest after the firing.
