Udupi: The district’s achievement in II PU results was limited not just to the top position — many of its students bagged ranks at the state level too.Rashmi, a student of the Janatha Independent PU College, Hemmadi, in Kundapur taluk, scored 598 marks in science. Meanwhile, Prerana Ramachandra Hegde, student of Creative PU College, Hirgana, of Karkala taluk, scrored 598 marks in commerce.Rashmi, daughter of Rajesh Pai, a businessman, and Pooja Kini, a govt school teacher, told TOI she wants to become a lecturer in govt college. “My reading habit helped me secure good marks. I want to do BSc and MSc. Initially, I was spending nearly 2-3 hours studying at home. Weeks before exams, I studied 5-6 hours,” Rashmi added.Prerana said constant support from lecturers, college management and parents ensured success. “They were all supportive and filled me with positive energy to study well. The study hours in the college and at home were well planned and scheduled. Revision of previous years’ question papers, preparatory exams and the supportive environment — be it in the college or home — all made me confident to write the exam,” she said, expressing gratitude to her parents, Ramachandra Hegde, an employee of NPCIL, Kaiga, and homemaker-mother Shilpagiri BM.Ankitha S Bhat and Liona Aranha, students of Poornaprajna PU College, Udupi; Noothana Narayan Nayak of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial PU College; and Shamya Shetty of Janatha Independent PU College, Hemmadi, scored 597 marks each.Similarly, Aarnavi of Jnanasudha PU College, Kunjibettu, Chaithrika Chowdary L, Vaishnavi Kulkarni, both from Karkala Jnanasudha PU College, Manya of Excellent PU College, Sunnari, Kundapur, Prarthana Shetty of Creative PU College, Hirgana, Sameeksha R of PRN Amratha Bharathi PU College, Hebri, and Shravya G Devadiga of Janatha Independent PU College, Hemmadi, scored 597 marks each in science.
