Bengaluru: A 24-year-old private firm employee received a shock when her cousin’s wife sent her photographs on WhatsApp — the former’s images morphed into nude and sexually explicit visuals using AI tools.Pavani (name changed), from Basaveshwaranagar, filed a police complaint against her cousin Rahul (name changed), the son of her paternal uncle.After receiving the images on March 7, Pavani confronted Rahul’s wife, who revealed that her husband had been secretly misusing her photographs to create AI-generated explicit content.He allegedly created a fake Facebook account in the woman’s name, posted the morphed images, made obscene comments on them, and circulated them among unknown individuals via Messenger.The matter took a wider dimension when Rahul’s wife alleged that he had engaged in similar acts using photographs of other women, including his colleagues.Police have registered a case under the Information Technology Act and BNS Sections 75 (sexual harassment) and 79 (act intended to insult the modesty of a woman). Investigations are underway, said a senior police officer.
