Bengaluru: Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has officially rolled out the one-time settlement (OTS) scheme to help consumers with long-pending water bills.Of the approximately 11 lakh connections, 5.1 lakh consumers have outstanding bills. The water board’s Feb-end data puts the total arrears at Rs 851.3 crore, including the principal amount of Rs 539 crore and accumulated interest of Rs 312 crore. To simplify clearance of these dues and ease financial burden on consumers, OTS scheme will be implemented for a three-month window — April to June 2026. The scheme was announced recently by deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar.BWSSB chairman Ram Prasath Manohar said notices with payment information under the scheme will be sent with upcoming water bills. “All necessary preparations have been completed. Eligible consumers will receive comprehensive information with this month’s bill. A separate letter detailing the outstanding principal, exact interest amount being waived, final payable sum, payment methods and the scheme’s criteria will be attached to the bill,” he added.
