“Just a few days ago, you saw how in Malda, judicial officers were held hostage. What kind of government and system is this, where the constitutional system itself is not safe? This is not just an example of Trinamool, but of the present state government’s ‘mega jungle raj’,” Modi said while addressing a rally in Cooch Behar, his first campaign rally.
“If the state government cannot provide security to judges, what will be the condition of the common people?” he questioned.
“This election will be for ‘parivartan’,” Modi said, urging people to exercise their voting rights and bring about change. “Vote for your rights, safety and security, and put a stamp on ‘parivartan’.”
On the polling day, Modi told the crowd, “No matter how much Trinamool goons try to intimidate you, have faith in law and order. In this election, fear will disappear and good governance and trust will be established.”
“After this election, every act of wrongdoing by Trinamool will be held accountable. Every sin will be accounted for (‘chun chun ke hisaab kiya jaega’). After May 4, law and order will prevail,” he said.
Modi also spoke about the deprivation faced by tea garden workers, SCs, STs and farmers, alleging that they have been neglected in North Bengal due to the Trinamool government blocking central schemes.Referring to the law providing 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, the PM said, “Efforts are being made to ensure that women across the country benefit from this starting from the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. From Cooch Behar, I assure all states that those which have done well in population control will not face any loss in terms of seats. We urge all sections of society and political parties to play a positive role in this.”
Demographic change and appeasement politics
Raising concerns over what he described as a “dangerous demographic change” in Bengal, the Prime Minister alleged that Trinamool Congress is integrating infiltrators into its network. “The central government’s aim is to weed out infiltrators from the country,” he said.
“Trinamool is opposing Bengal SIR in a bid to block CAA. Citizenship will be taken away from Hindu refugees and given to illegal infiltrators. These infiltrators are TMC’s vote bank. For appeasement politics, TMC is trying to include infiltrators,” Modi alleged.
“The ruling Trinamool Congress is openly threatening that one community will make the lives of Hindus difficult in West Bengal,” the Prime Minister said.
