Mysuru: Mysuru district minister HC Mahadevappa on Wednesday directed officials to respond promptly to any damage caused by rainfall.At the district-level meeting at the Jaladarshini Guest House, the minister emphasised the need for precautionary measures as the monsoon started earlier than expected.After receiving updates on the water levels and inflow to the reservoirs, Mahadevappa said six animals were affected in Nanjangud taluk due to rain, and relief should be provided to their owners. Additionally, 146 electricity poles that were damaged need repairs.Measures should be taken to prevent rainwater from entering water tanks and wells during heavy rainfall, ensuring that drinking water remains uncontaminated. With more rain anticipated in the district, agricultural activities are intensifying. He instructed that farmers preparing for sowing should not face any issues and that adequate seeds and fertilisers should be distributed properly.With regard to incidents of disrespect towards national leader BR Ambedkar’s portraits in Vajamangala, Sindhuvalli, and Hullahalli, Mahadevappa said such incidents should not occur, and police should remain vigilant. People should be made aware to honour such great leaders, he stated.As the district reported a few Covid cases, people should follow necessary precautions. If symptoms persist, they should get tested at the nearest hospital and receive appropriate treatment, he advised.The meeting was attended by DC G Lakshmikanth Reddy and police commissioner Seema Latkar.
