Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation is grappling with major staff shortage, with more than two-thirds of its regular posts, over 60%, lying vacant. This is the situation across crucial administrative and technical wings.Of the 5,611 sanctioned regular posts in the civic body, 3,767 are currently vacant, leaving only 1,769 employees on the rolls. Jaipur: A day after a scuffle between women constables of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation’s vigilance team and a cafe owner in Amer’s Maota area, Somiya Meena Saturday lodged an FIR against JMC at Amer police station.Meena alleged that civic officials arrived at her cafe on Friday and tried to remove items without prior notice. “A similar incident occurred in 2025 when a gas cylinder was seized. Nagpur: An unidentified man, around 30 years old, lost his life after falling from the fourth floor of an under-construction building in Ajni on Friday.The accident occurred around 2pm in Empress Mill Society, Srinagar. The labourer approached contractor Aniket Rathod (35), a resident of Jaripatka, seeking work at the Ved Infrastructure site. He was assigned cleaning duties.While doing the job, the worker lost his balance and plummeted to the ground, sustaining critical injuries. Vadodara: Former Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) joint secretary Parag Patel, who was suspended from the association last month, was allowed to cast his vote in the election on Sunday. Nandanghat: A 38-year-old woman from Bengal’s East Burdwan district, working as a waitress at a restaurant in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Friday night. Sonamoni Bairagya, from Nasratpur in Siddepara village under Nandanghat PS limits, had moved to Ahmedabad around one-and-a-half years ago. Her body was found from a room inside the restaurant where she worked and stayed.
