KOLHAPUR: Sunil Motilal Sadarangani (59), former owner of Solapur’s well-known Multani Bakery, allegedly died by suicide on Thursday afternoon by jumping from the 17th floor of an apartment building in the Vijapur Road area of the city. Police said no suicide note was found and the family informed them that he had been facing financial problems. Police said Sadarangani had shifted to Pune after selling the bakery some years ago. Patna: The state cabinet on Friday approved the govt’s proposal to increase the ex gratia payment to the next of kin of a migrant worker from the existing Rs 2 lakh to Rs 4 lakh in case of death due to an accident anywhere in the country outside Bihar.The cabinet also decided that the govt would bear the cost of bringing back the body of a deceased migrant worker to his home in the state. Hazaribag: An elderly farmer, who was on his way to Hazaribag town to sell vegetables, died after his bike was rammed by a speeding tractor on Friday. The incident took place near the Luta Railway Overbridge under Katkamdag police station limits. The victim was identified as Vasudev Mahto (65) of Pakrar village under Katkamdag block. Kolkata: A 68-year-old Kulpi woman’s death on Thursday after suffering a cardiac arrest prompted her family to blame the SIR process. Asma Sardar, of Nagnon village, was a pensioner. She lived with her only son, Rakib, who is a person with disabilities. According to Rakib, the 2002 list had the name Asma Sardar, but with her documents saying Asma ‘Bibi’ instead, a notice was served. Relatives claimed that Asma had almost stopped eating since.
