Bhubaneswar: The skill development and technical education department on Thursday announced the launch of the ‘Utkarsh ITI Yojana’, under which five existing government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) would be upgraded to centres of advanced technical and vocational training.The upgraded ITIs, termed Utkarsh ITIs, would be equipped with enhanced physical infrastructure, modern training equipment, smart classrooms, digital learning systems and industry-relevant trades aligned with emerging skill requirements. Coimbatore: Chief minister M K Stalin on Thursday inaugurated the Kurichi-Kuniyamuthur underground drainage (UGD) project in the city through videoconferencing. The project was completed at a cost of Rs 597.14 crore under the Amrut scheme.This UGD project covering Coimbatore corporation’s 14 wards (87 to 100) in the south zone is meant to provide 69,688 house service connections.The project has been designed for 30 years from 2020. Kalaburagi: A KKRTC driver was assaulted by a youth for not giving way near Beeri Tanda, near Bhalki in Bidar district, on Wednesday morning. The bus driver, Chandrashekhar, was assaulted by the unknown youth.Later, the youth was identified as Vishal, a resident of Beeri Tanda. Ludhiana: Days after ambulance drivers staged a protest at the civil hospital over parking problems, the hospital administration has introduced a set of new parking rules and demarcated designated parking zones across the premises.
