T’puram: The city police have stepped up security and surveillance across Thiruvananthapuram ahead of Onam, deploying around 500 plainclothes personnel and installing nearly 240 surveillance cameras at key locations, said city police commissioner Arul R B Krishna.The security arrangements cover major celebration venues, including Kanakakunnu, Museum, Central Stadium, VJT Hall, Poojappura Mandapam, Putharikandam Maidan and Tagore Theatre. Jammu, August 18: The Railway Ministry has approved an increase in the maximum permissible speed of trains to 100 kmph on the 111-km Broad Gauge rail section between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Banihal under the Jammu Division of Northern Railway.Earlier, the permissible speed was 85 kmph on the Katra-Sangaldan section and 75 kmph on the Sangaldan-Banihal section.The speed enhancement has been approved after the Railways ensured compliance with all prescribed safety conditions on the section.Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, Uchit Singhal said the increase in speed would reduce travel time and strengthen connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir.“The increase…
