Ludhiana: A 35-year-old man arrested in a drug-peddling case allegedly died by suicide in police custody at Hambran police post under Ladhowal police station on Thursday.Police said Balbir Singh, a resident of Khera Bet, allegedly hanged himself with the zipper of a mattress inside the lock-up. Balbir was arrested two days ago with 10 grams of heroin, after which a court remanded him in police custody. Ghaziabad: Twenty-one private hospitals have been dropped from the Ayushman Bharat panel after being found to have failed govt-prescribed quality standards and allegedly indulged in irregularities that could have left beneficiaries denied cashless care or paying for treatment that should have been free.The action followed complaints and data analytics by the state anti-fraud unit. Patna: National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested absconding accused Bhairav Tripathi in connection with the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and live ammunition in Muzaffarpur district, officials said on Thursday. Tripathi, son of Jagat Narayan Tripathi and a resident of Sahebganj, was arrested on Wednesday.According to the NIA, Tripathi allegedly conspired with other accused to smuggle sophisticated prohibited-bore weapons and rifles from Nagaland to Bihar.
