Surat: A 20-year-old BTech student who left home ostensibly intent on ending his life after an emotional video call to his father was traced in Ahmedabad within 24 hours and brought back safely by Surat police on Friday.The student, who also worked at a technology company, had called his father on Thursday afternoon and said he wanted to see his face for the last time. Varanasi: Over 97% of the total seats in the undergraduate programmes in Banaras Hindu University are filled as the university winds up regular rounds of UG admissions for academic session 2026–27. Of the total 4,826 seats up for grabs in the Varanasi and Barkachha campuses, 4,720 seats are occupied, accounting for 97.8% of the total number.The figure excludes seats under the Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPA) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) programmes. Thiruvannathapuram: The state govt has strongly opposed the railway board’s decision to shift Mangaluru station and adjoining areas from the Palakkad railway division to the Mysuru division, describing it as a unilateral move that would adversely affect the state and Southern Railway.
