Ahmedabad: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the city crime branch has begun investigating an alleged Rs 6.3-crore fraud case in which an accountant of a jewellery company on CG Road allegedly siphoned off 3.85kg of 24-carat gold and Rs 13 lakh in cash over a year.According to a complaint filed by the company’s director, the accused accountant had been working with the company for around eight years and handled accounts and purchase-related work. Pune: Unidentified persons stole Rs 65,000 from the office of a mess secretary located on the premises of a defence establishment in Wanowrie in the early hours of Thursday.An officer from the mess later lodged a complaint with the Wanowrie police.An officer from Wanowrie police said, “The complainant said the cash had been kept in a cupboard at the secretary’s office for expenses related to the mess. Nagpur: National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning (NBSS&LUP), headquartered in Nagpur and functioning under Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), has developed India’s first soil texture map, providing detailed information on the characteristics of soil across every hectare of the country.The map, released on July 16, comes a year after the bureau developed India’s first soil depth map.
