Rajkot: A five-year-old male Asiatic lion was found dead in a farm well on the outskirts of Dhokadva village in Gir Gadhada taluka of Gir Somnath district on Friday.Forest officials recovered the carcass and sent it for a postmortem to ascertain the cause of death. The lion is suspected to have fallen into the well two or three days earlier and drowned.Farm owner Arjan Dangodra noticed a foul smell when he went to the farm to switch on an irrigation pump. Surat: A 21-year-old autorickshaw driver has been sentenced to 20 years in jail after being convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl.The incident took place in September 2023 in the Kapodra police station area, where the accused raped the victim at his residence. The accused was the victim’s father’s cousin and she used to address him as uncle. The seized stock of e-cigarettes Vadodara: Special Operations Group (SOG) sleuths on Friday seized a large stock of e-cigarettes that were allegedly being sold across the city.Acting on a tip-off that e-cigarettes had been stored at a house in Akota township, the SOG team conducted a raid and found a minor boy at the premises. Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University, in collaboration with the Varanasi Municipal Corporation, has launched a comprehensive plantation drive under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative. T’puram: The Thiruvananthapuram Metro Rail project is set to move another step forward, with Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) preparing to submit the revised detailed project report (DPR) to the state govt next week, following a fresh technical review by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).The revised DPR will incorporate minor changes suggested after a site inspection conducted by the DMRC team last week.
