COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore city police on Wednesday arrested a wall painter on charges of murdering his relative at Singanallur.The arrested man has been identified as P Sivakumar of Devendra Street in Singanallur. Police said Sivakumar murdered his relative, G Velusamy, 58, a daily wage labourer who lived alone in the same locality, on Tuesday night.According to police, Sivakumar’s 32-year-old son, Agneeswaran, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, picked a quarrel with Velusamy on July 14. Mangaluru: Mobile phone dealers across Mangaluru are witnessing a sharp decline in smartphone sales, with consumers increasingly opting to repair older devices or buy refurbished handsets as rising prices make new smartphones unaffordable for many buyers.Muneer, secretary, Dakshina Kannada Mobile Retailers Association, said sales have dropped significantly compared to previous years. Buxar: Registrations of land and property registrations have declined in Buxar district since the rollout of paperless registration system on Aug 3. Officials and deed writers attributed the slowdown to difficulties faced by villagers, farmers and elderly people in adapting to the Aadhaar-linked digital process.The district has two registration centres, at Buxar and Dumraon. Before the rollout of the paperless system, the Buxar office recorded 40-50 registrations daily, while the Dumraon office handled around 30, according to officials.
