Nagpur: Residents of several areas in West Nagpur faced water scarcity amid scorching heat on Friday after disruption in supply from the distribution centre near Nagpur University Campus. Private water operator OCW alleged that the disruption was caused after Ward 13 corporator Yogesh Pachpor and his associate forcibly operated a valve at the distribution centre, affecting water supply to areas including Sanjay Nagar and Trust Layout. Surat: A fire broke out in a locked ninth-floor apartment of a residential high-rise in Surat’s Vesu area on Friday morning, prompting the evacuation of residents from upper floors, though no injuries or fatalities were reported.The blaze was reported at Grand Altima, a 13-storey building, when around 11 residents were present in flats on the upper floors. Vadodara: Detection of crime branch (DCB) arrested notorious bootlegger Lalchand Khanani alias Lalu Sindhi, wanted under the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime (GujCTOC) Act, in Modasa town of Aravalli district, after receiving a tip-off.DCB officials said Sindhi was intercepted while travelling in a car and taken into custody.
