Bhubaneswar: The special crime unit (SCU) of the commissionerate police on Friday arrested two men for smuggling brown sugar and seized 290g of the narcotic substance worth about Rs 29 lakh. The accused was identified as Fakruddin Khan (44) of Bhadrak district and Mohammed Badsha (32) of West Singhbhum district in Jharkhand.”Khan is a habitual offender with nine previous cases registered against him in Bhadrak. COIMBATORE: A total of 17 bonded labourers, mainly children below the age of 18, were rescued from two brick kilns in Namakkal district. The rescued people, belonging to five families, had been held captive as bonded labourers at the brick kilns run by two brothers, identified as P Rajashekaran and P Karupannan, in the foothills of Kollimalai.
