Kolkata: Jadavpur University Teachers’ Association has written to higher education minister Jagannath Chattopadhyay, expressing concerns over the retrospective implementation of the new Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) rules. JUTA said the order on promotions for university teachers, librarians and physical education directors at state-aided institutes was issued on July 15 but its provisions took effect retrospectively from Jan 1, 2025. “It creates administrative complications and potential legal disputes for faculty members already promoted under previous govt,” the letter read.
