City police have stepped up their crackdown on illegal foreign nationals, with 31 Bangladeshi nationals identified in Electronics City division sent for deportation Sunday. The deportees, traced and detained over the past few months, were sent by train from Bengaluru to Malda Town in West Bengal, following verification and deportation orders from the FRRO. A 20-member police team escorted them. The action is part of Operation Mukta, launched last month, during which police in Electronics City and Whitefield divisions detained 105 illegal Bangladeshi nationals.
