Chandigarh: Haryana will launch a statewide drive to tag every cattle head and crack down on owners who abandon animals on roads, chief minister Nayab Singh Saini said on Wednesday.Chairing a meeting of the Haryana Gau Seva Aayog and animal husbandry department, Saini directed officials to ensure every cattle head is identified so owners can be traced and held accountable. Lucknow: In an intensive checking drive against unauthorised passenger vehicles and motorists violating traffic regulations across the state capital, traffic police seized 35 vehicles and issued 3,570 challans.Of the 3,570 challans, 1,368 were issued for riding two-wheelers without helmets, 712 for no-parking violations, 450 for driving on the wrong side, 137 for defective number plates, 61 for operating vehicles without valid insurance and 85 for triple riding on two-wheelers.The cops also launched a special enforcement drive against two-wheelers fitted with illegally modified silencers to curb noise pollution and inconvenience caused to the public. Akola: A month-long preliminary inquiry into alleged financial irregularities at Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth’s (PDKV) agricultural college has resulted in a police case against seven persons, including former university officials, employees and a contractor.
