Mumbai: Six months after being initiated and subsequently stayed, BMC has cancelled the transfers of over 120 civic engineers following allegations of corruption.Last month, mayor Ritu Tawde had asked the civic body to “take note of the issue and take appropriate action” regarding the transfers. She was referring to a letter from Ramakant Bane of the Municipal Mazdoor Union, which called for lifting the stay on the transfers. Yadgir: Nine members of a family, including four children, were burnt to death after their car collided with a private bus and caught fire at Shantapur Cross in Surpur taluk on the Bidar-Srirangapatna Highway Friday.The accident occurred around 9.45 am when the car attempted to overtake another vehicle and got wedged between it and the bus before the collision. Ahmedabad: A sales manager of a private bank has been accused of cheating a customer of Rs 1 lakh on the pretext of opening a current account. The complaint filed with Navrangpura police on Thursday states that the accused, in Aug, took Rs 80,000 first and Rs 20,000 the next day for opening the account but deposited the money into his own account.
