Bengaluru: The state govt is planning to seek views from students, parents, education experts and other stakeholders before finalising reforms in the education sector.A decision to this effect was taken at the first meeting of the cabinet sub-committee on students’ issues and education reforms, headed by health minister UT Khader, held at Vidhana Soudha Thursday. Patna: The state govt intensified its crackdown on the illegal liquor trade in Aug, conducting more than 1.12 lakh raids across the state in a joint operation by the prohibition, excise and registration department and Bihar Police.According to department data, around 10,000 cases were registered between Aug 1 and 31, while more than 11,000 people were arrested for violations of the prohibition law. Nagpur: Supreme Court recently set aside a Bombay High Court ruling that rejected a property suit, holding that Nagpur bench exceeded the narrow limits of its revisional jurisdiction and effectively “donned the hat of trial court” while examining an application to reject the complaint. Kolkata: The state govt has sealed 17 restaurants, food-processing and packaging units, prohibited sales at 16 eateries and cancelled the licences of five others after finding them in violation of food safety norms. Currently, the state is conducting an intense food safety drive across the state, which will continue for three more days.Health minister Sharadwat Mukherjee, however, said that the punitive actions are temporary as permanent closure would mean robbing the livelihood of many attached to those units.
