Dr Dileep Mavalankar, former director of IIPH-G and a noted public health expert, has been awarded the Fellowship by Distinction of the Faculty of Public Health at the Royal College of Physicians, UK. The honour was conferred at a formal ceremony held in London in June. The faculty of public health (FPH), UK, is the country’s premier professional body for public health specialists. Kendrapada: Vigilance officials on Friday arrested a revenue inspector (RI) of Kaupada circle in Kendrapada district while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,500 from a person to facilitate issuance of a record of rights (ROR) in a mutation case. Erode: A farmer died after falling into a well at Karukkupalayam in Erode district on Thursday evening. The farmer, M Palanichamy, 62, fell into the well around 6.30pm while installing a new electric motor in it along with a few others.“While installing the motor, he accidentally slipped and fell into the well. The fall caused severe head injuries,” said an officer at Bhavani police station. Bhagalpur: The detection of two Covid-19 cases and a rise in patients reporting prolonged flu-like symptoms have put the Bhagalpur health department on alert. Hazaribag: Police on Friday arrested Akhileshwar Pandey, 28, of Badam village in an assault, humiliation and witch-hunting case filed by Babita Devi, 25, in Hazaribag district.Police said Devi lodged her complaint on July 21, alleging she was assaulted, abused and humiliated.
