Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has intensified its search for Zamirul, suspected to be the mastermind behind a network involved in procuring and circulating high-quality counterfeit Indian currency.Earlier, on Aug 8, Zamirul’s younger brother Raja alias Sameerul and his associate Azim Khan were arrested in Lucknow.The suspects were accused of running a counterfeit currency network sourcing fake Indian currency from Malda in West Bengal, near the India-Bangladesh international border, and transporting it to Uttar Pradesh for circulation.The ATS recovered 201 counterfeit Rs 500 notes with a total face value of Rs 1,00,500 from the accused.According to investigators, Zamirul…

T’puram: A 69-year-old former Naxalbari movement activist died on Monday after a car allegedly travelling at high speed veered onto the roadside and knocked him down in Kallikkad. The deceased is Sainulabdeen, a native of Perumoodu.The accident occurred around 4.30pm on Sunday while Sainulabdeen was sitting on his bike and selling clothes by the roadside when the car hit him. Kolkata: The state govt has initiated the process to engage a consultant for preparing a detail architectural and engineering plan for setting up the proposed Syama Prasad Mookerjee memorial complex on 14.5 acres. The proposed complex will also include a 125 ft high statue of Mookerjee at Eco Park in New Town.“This will be the tallest statue of Mookerjee in the country,” officials said.
