Prayagraj: Allahabad University unveiled a Next Gen Sub Post Office on its campus on Tuesday, introducing a first-of-its-kind facility combining postal services with café culture. The centre located at the old post office was inaugurated by vice-chancellor prof Sangita Srivastava.Designed as a hybrid space, the facility offers an innovative concept of ‘Chai and Chitthi’ café allowing visitors to access postal services while enjoying beverages and books at no extra cost. The VC inspected the café and reviewed the amenities being offered to students, staff and alumni.Dean of arts prof Anuradha Agrawal, dean of science prof SI Rizvi, dean of student welfare prof NK Shukla, registrar prof Ashish Khare and proctor Atul Narayan Singh and others were present during the inauguration.The post office offers a wide range of services such as savings bank accounts, recurring deposits and low-cost life insurance policies, alongside traditional postal operations. Digital integration has been prioritised, with UPI and other online payment systems already functional. Aadhaar enrolment and update services will also be made available soon. Sub postmaster Alok Kumar Srivastava said the initiative seeks to transform the conventional post office into a dynamic, accessible space aligned with the evolving needs of the university community.
