Prayagraj: A grand felicitation ceremony was organised at Allahabad University (AU) on Friday to honour its distinguished alumni and students who have recently been selected in prestigious competitive examinations, including IAS-2025, UPPCS-2024, and various state judicial services.The programme was held at the Prof Ishwar Topa auditorium in the Senate campus under the chairmanship of vice-chancellor Prof Sangeeta Srivastava. Organised by the AU Alumni Association, the event began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by the felicitation of successful candidates with mementoes and diaries.Prof Srivastava congratulated the achievers and said their success has brought pride to the university and helped restore its historic academic reputation. She highlighted that around 70 students from the university have been selected in the UPPCS-2024 examination, describing it as a remarkable accomplishment. She credited the recent appointment of dedicated faculty members and their focus on quality teaching for the improved results.The Vice-Chancellor encouraged the selected candidates to remain prepared for the practical challenges of life beyond academic success. She emphasised that their achievements were the result of perseverance and consistent effort, especially during times when others chose comfort over hard work. Stressing the importance of resilience, she said that failure is an essential step toward success and those who learn from it emerge stronger.She also advised students to utilise their time effectively, noting that present efforts shape the future. Urging them to maintain a positive outlook, she said society needs individuals who can contribute constructively. Highlighting the success of female candidates, she described them as role models and an inspiration for others aspiring to achieve top positions such as the IAS.AU Registrar, Prof Ashish Khare, while delivering the vote of thanks, expressed confidence that the honoured alumni would continue to guide and inspire current students.Earlier, Alumni Association secretary Prof Kumar Birendra welcomed the guests and termed the event a significant step in strengthening the bond between alumni and the university.
