Coimbatore: Terming the upcoming election as a battle to protect the rights of eight crore people of Tamil Nadu, deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin called upon the people to ‘chase the fascists’ away from the state.Addressing the DMK west zone youth wing conference at Kaniyur in Coimbatore district, Udhayanidhi alleged that “fascists” were trying to destroy Tamil Nadu. He alleged that BJP was the constantly trying to snatch away TN’s rights, there was an attempt to scuttle the Kalaignar Mahalir Urimai Thittam.He called the election as a “war between Tamil Nadu and Delhi,” and it was important for youth wing functionaries to intensify their work to win the war. “Only 50 more days are left for the election. Only a relentless effort over the next 50 days would help the DMK return to power,” he said expressing confidence that DMK front would win more than 200 seats.He projected Chief Minister M K Stalin as a national leader, saying he would “show the way to India.” Udhayandhi said even leaders of other political parties believed the democratic fight against the BJP should be led by Stalin.Udhayanidhi Stalin further alleged that the BJP-led govt was trying to intimidate the DMK through Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), but DMK would not be intimidated by such tactics. “We are not afraid of the ED, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, or even Modi’s Daddy”, he said. Accusing the BJP of pursuing “hate politics”, he said its motive was to create divisions in Tamil Nadu and spread communal polarisation.He also criticised the frequent pre-election visits of Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah to TN and said such visits would not help the party in the state.Training the gun on AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, he said the AIADMK leader who first pawned the BJP had later leased it and has now completely sold it to BJP.
