Guwahati: Assam Class X state board examination will commence Tuesday, with the highest-ever 4.38 lakh candidates registered to appeThis year, students will get questions in five different languages in five separate compilations within a single question paper booklet, officials said. The languages are English, Assamese, Bengali, Bodo and Hindi.
Earlier, question papers carried one question in multiple languages before moving to the next, a format Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) officials said sometimes confused students, prompting a change in pattern.“Students will find it convenient to go through the questions in languages of his or her choice,” ASSEB chairperson RC Jain said. He added that more concept-based questions are likely this year.Officials said security measures have been tightened across examination centres, with CCTV, boundary walls and frisking made compulsory.For the Class X boards, 117 new examination centres have been added, taking the total to 1,046. The examination will begin with the Modern Indian Language paper.Barpeta district has the highest number of centres at 72, while Dima Hasao has the lowest at eight.In the Higher Secondary (HS) exams starting Wednesday, private schools will not be used as examination centres this year. Private schools are not used as centres for matric exams. From this year, private school teachers will not be appointed as invigilators in both Class X and XII state board examinations, officials said, in a bid to check malpractices.“Conveying my best wishes to all students appearing in the #HSLC Examination tomorrow, wishing them success, confidence, and composure as they take this important academic step,” education minister Ranoj Pegu posted on X. “A total of 4,38,565 candidates will appear across Assam at 1,046 HSLC centres. All stakeholders are urged to strictly comply with rules and regulations to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the examination,” he added.
