Previous Assam Elections
The previous assembly elections were held in March–April 2021. The incumbent National Democratic Alliance (NDA) retained power, winning 75 out of 126 seats, with Himanta Biswa Sarma taking office as Chief Minister.
In August 2021, the Indian National Congress ended its alliance with the All India United Democratic Front and Bodoland People’s Front, bringing an end to the opposition bloc known as ‘Mahajot’.
