Dhanbad: The police on Monday arrested Dilip Singh, an aide of gangster Prince Khan, from Govindpur. Dilip escaped the encounter which broke out with police in the Bhuiphore locality of Saraidhela police station limits on Sunday evening. Dilip’s associate Sudish Ojha, who was shot in the leg, was arrested after the encounter. Ojha is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital and is reported to be out of danger.“Both the aides of Khan, who were involved in collecting levy from a contractor, are now in police custody,” SSP Prabhat Kumar said. “This is a major success for the police. Both accused were working for Khan and were involved in extortion activities. They will now be interrogated to gather further information about the network,” he said.Dilip, 50, is a resident of Baramundi under police outpost.Police said the gunfight broke out on Sunday when a team tried to arrest the dup for allegedly threatening local contractors and businessmen for levy. A sub-inspector at Saraidhela police station, Balmukund Singh, sustained gunshot wounds during the encounter and was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.Police sources said Khan is currently based in Pakistan. Since 2021, Khan has managed his criminal activities from overseas, threatening businessmen and contractors and collecting extortion money through his local henchmen.
