HYDERABAD: Ten persons, including TDP MP from Andhra Pradesh Putta Mahesh Yadav, BRS leader and former MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy and a former MLA from Rajasthan, were reportedly detained after an alleged drug bust at a farmhouse in Moinabad on Saturday night.Rohit Reddy and the former Rajasthan MLA reportedly tested positive for cocaine, while the TDP MP tested negative. They also seized two grams of cocaine from the premises. One of the detained persons fired two rounds in the air with a firearm belonging to Rohit’s brother, police said. On a tip-off that a group was holding a party with narcotics, a five-member Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) team raided the farmhouse, which belongs to Rohit Reddy, around 9.30pm, but allegedly faced resistance from security at the gate and Rohit Reddy, and was not allowed in immediately . “We had to seek help from the SOT of Future City to gain entry into the farmhouse,” an EAGLE official said. Acting on a tip-off, an EAGLE team, headed by an inspector, raided the farmhouse at Moinabad. “Apart from Rohit Reddy, Eluru TDP MP Putta Mahesh Kumar and a former MLA from Rajasthan were also present. A woman was also among the group. We believe that one of the persons could be a gunman of the politicians present,” a source said. Police conducted anti-narcotic test on all the 10 persons at a local govt hospital. Rohit Reddy and the former Rajasthan MLA reportedly tested positive. The accused might be produced before a magistrate. EAGLE officials said the Moinabad police would handle the investigation since the quantity of cocaine seized was a ‘small quantity’.In Oct 2022, Cyberabad police had conducted a raid at the same farmhouse on the complaint of Rohit Reddy and arrested three persons for allegedly trying to bribe ruling BRS MLAs in a ‘cash for defection’ case.
