HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Lokayukta has ensured compensation and rehabilitation benefits for displaced families under the Polavaram Project. Acting on complaints filed by Nallala Venkata Ramanamma and Nallala Seshagiri, the Upa-Lokayukta P. Rajani passed a common order addressing their exclusion from the project’s Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) Package. Both complainants, residents of the affected area, were initially left out of the list of eligible beneficiaries.Following the intervention of the Lokayukta, the Project Administrator and Ex-officio Joint Collector, Polavaram Irrigation Project, Dowlaiswaram, submitted an action-taken report confirming that both complainants were added to the supplementary draft R&R scheme. Each was compensated with Rs. 6.36 lakh and Rs. 25,000, along with allotted house site plots.Further, the govt sanctioned Rs. 9.50 crore for the benefit of displaced families in Kummari Lova village, Tuni Mandal (formerly East Godavari, now Kakinada District), helping numerous other affected households receive their rightful benefits.
