Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research director B Dinesha said that anaesthesiologists often have to stand for long hours and remain with the patient until the patient recovers

Mysuru: Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research director B Dinesha said that although anaesthesiologists work behind the scenes within the four walls of the operation theatre, their role in cardiac surgeries is extremely significant.He was speaking after inaugurating a conference on ‘Continuing Medical Education (CME) in Cardiac Anaesthesia’, organised jointly by the Karnataka Chapter of IACTA (Indian Association of Cardiovascular Thoracic Anaesthesiologists) and the Global Heartcare Foundation at Jayadeva Hospital in the city on Sunday.Dinesha said that during surgeries, anaesthesiologists must work in constant coordination with surgeons, nurses and OT technicians. They often have to stand for long hours and remain with the patient until the patient recovers from complications and becomes stable.He stated that with the help of modern technologies and artificial intelligence (AI), it is now possible to accurately assess a patient’s recovery progress. He pointed out that there is currently a shortage of anaesthesiology specialists in the country.Among those present at the programme were Dr Ranjith Karthikeyan, Dr Muralidhar, Dr Manjunath, Dr Parimala, Dr Prabhakar, Dr Manjula, Organising Secretary Dr KS Bharathi, Dr Nanjappa, Dr Harshabasappa, Dr Rajith and Dr Jayasheelan.
