Kolkata: The city recently witnessed an evening of conservation with National Award-winning filmmaker Subbiah Nallamuthu. With over twenty years of experience documenting India’s tigers and five National Awards to his name, Nallamuthu engaged the Kolkata audience with an absorbing session on ‘Wildlife Filmmaking in the Age of Social Media and Digital Disruption’. The event was organised by SHER (Society for Heritage and Ecological Researches). The evening explored the struggles and responsibilities of telling genuine wildlife stories in today’s fast-paced content ecosystem, where authenticity often gets overshadowed by trends and algorithms. A special screening of a never-before-seen short film from Nallamuthu’s latest Tiger project was exclusively showcased for the Kolkata audience. The evening drew wildlife enthusiasts, filmmakers, conservationists, and youth, offering them a rare opportunity to experience the world of India’s tigers.
