Ahmedabad: Students living in Gujarat University‘s (GU) hostel are being deprived of basic facilities, causing them severe difficulties, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) alleged on Thursday. The students’ body said water supply in the hostel is inadequate, sanitation is poor and living conditions unsafe.One of the major issues it highlighted is the acute shortage of drinking water. According to ABVP, students have no option but to wait in long queues to access potable water, causing inconvenience and disrupting their daily routines. Water supply for bathing and washing too is insufficient, the students’ body has alleged. Meanwhile, on Thursday evening, the university restored water supply to the boys’ hostel. It said the supply was disrupted for two days as urgent repairs to the borewell were being carried out. Looking at the onset of summer, GU said it has arranged 20-litre bottles of RO water for students in Blocks B and D until water coolers become operational. tnn
