The much-awaited teaser of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana was unveiled at a grand event in Mumbai on Thursday, finally revealing Ranbir Kapoor’s look as Lord Rama, and the internet has been buzzing ever since. Amid the excitement, a surprising trend has taken over social media with AI-generated images imagining Ranveer Singh as Lord Rama emerging, capturing attention and winning hearts across platforms.
Ranveer Singh reimagined as Lord Rama
The first glimpse of Ranbir from the magnum opus project was released on Thursday. Since then, social media users have been dissecting every frame of the teaser.
Now, AI-generated images imagining Ranveer, who is winning hearts with his Dhurandhar franchise at the moment, as Lord Rama have emerged in the virtual world, sparking fresh conversations online.
One of the captions of the post with Ranveer’s image read, “Ramayana : Ranveer as Lord Ram…. What’s your take on this?”
The fan-made visuals have struck a chord with several social media users, with many praising the alternate casting idea and flooding timelines with admiration for the recreations.
One comment read, “Looks good”, with one mentioning, “He would’ve done it well. And yes he would’ve pulled it off. It would’ve been a sincere portrayal. But I think he would’ve been great as Ravaan. He is a very good actor and is at that age that he can pull off any character. He is even good enough for Indrajit.”
One fan shared, “he can play Ram, Shiva and Jesus as well… his face has that innocence as well as that courageous beast look… he would have been perfect for this role….”
“Ranveer is amazing actor and he always looks the character,” one mentioned, with another writing, “How can Ranveer fit in every character?? Man !!!!!”
“He is looking so realistic in this look,” one post read.
“Although Ranveer would look way way better as Lord Ram than the actor who actually plays him; I believe someone much younger should be cast for the role. Ranveer’s skintone actually matches Lord Ram’s and we know he moulds himself into any character he plays, but he’s 40+ already,” another comment read. One fan wrote, “
“RanveerSingh would make the perfect Maryaada Purushotam Rama.”
“A better choice imo. A younger, youthful appearance,” one wrote. Another shared, “He can fit into any role.”
“Perfection! The innocence and the godly aura is there,” one mentioned, with one writing, “Better than Ranbir Kapoor”. “Ranveer>>>Ranbir,” one comment read.
It also made some wonder how would Vicky Kaushal and Hrithik Roshan look in the role, with one writing, “Only good option in Bollywood I can think off is Vicky Kaushal”.
“No offence but Hrithik Roshan only, and nobody else even comes close to play Bhagwan Ram from Indian Cinema to be brutally honest. Ranveer is great but somehow doesn’t fit,” another shared.
Ranbir Kapoor introduced as Lord Rama
On Thursday, the ‘Rama glimpse’ of Ramayana, Nitesh Tiwari’s adaptation of the epic, was unveiled on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. The teaser introduced Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama. The teaser was launched in eight cities across India, with the director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra themselves present at the Mumbai launch.
When it comes to Ramayana, the film is a two-part film mounted on a massive budget of ₹4000 crore, making it not only the most expensive film ever produced in India but also one of the costliest film projects globally.
Apart from Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, the film stars Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakhsman. The Rama glimpse focused only on Lord Rama but also gave fleeting glimpses at other characters, including Lakshman and Sita. The teaser also showed Yash’s Ravana getting out his fabled flying machine, Pushpak Vimana, at the end. The unveiling has sparked a mixed response on social media.
Ramayana features music by Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman. Ramayana Part One is slated to release in theatres in October 2026, with the second part arriving in 2027.
