Ahmedabad: Two men were allegedly assaulted by a group of unidentified persons near Dudheshwar crossroads on Sunday night. An FIR was registered at Madhavpura police station on Monday.According to the complaint, a 21-year-old daily wage worker and his friend had gone to a temple in Dudeshwar on a two-wheeler on Sunday evening. Around 9.30pm, while returning home, they reached a busy junction near Jogani Mata temple. The complainant alleged that while they were waiting in traffic, an unidentified man came from behind, grabbed him by the hair, abused him and began assaulting him. He said several others soon gathered and joined in the attack. He also said that the Rs 500 he was carrying in his pocket fell during the scuffle. The complainant further alleged that during the assault, his friend was taken aside by some members of the group. As a crowd gathered, the complainant escaped and ran towards the main road, where his friend arrived on the two-wheeler. The two moved a short distance away, informed their acquaintances and called the emergency helpline. Police reached the spot and took the complainant back to the location. He identified one of the alleged attackers, after which another confrontation broke out between the group and the complainant’s acquaintances. In the second clash, one of the complainant’s friends was injured after being struck with a sharp object and was taken to a civil hospital for treatment. Police said a case has been registered against seven unidentified persons, further investigation is underway.
