Ahmedabad: Parents lodged a formal complaint with the city district education officer regarding discriminatory treatment of RTE students at GEMS Genesis International School (GGIS) near Vaishnodevi Circle. The school received an official notice from the DEO following the complaint, which also highlighted attempts to discourage RTE admissions. The complaint detailed that the school was unresponsive regarding uniform and book purchases. Seven RTE-admitted pupils faced isolation, with separate seating arrangements and different teaching schedules, concluding in afternoon dismissal. The school administration withheld academic and other relevant information from parents.During parental visits for enquiries, the school cited lack of classroom space, deferring consideration of RTE students. The institution charged Rs 4 lakh in fees, comprising Rs 1.5 lakh for tuition and Rs 2.5 lakh for activities. Parents received instructions to pay Rs 2.5 lakh for additional activities. These issues prompted the complaint submission to the DEO, resulting in an official notice. The complaint indicated systematic efforts by the school to pressure parents into withdrawing admissions.
