Jaipur: Education department Monday announced that admission forms for Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Schools will open from March 14 for the 2026-27 session. Parents are required to submit forms online (via the Shala Darpan portal or QR code) and admissions will subsequently be finalised through an online lottery process. In schools where pre-primary classes are operational, fresh admissions will be granted for all available seats in the Nursery class. For remaining classes, admissions will be granted to new students only for vacant seats. For govt schools where English-medium instruction is currently operational up to Class 10, and where it is being introduced for Class 11 for the first time, separate guidelines regarding the admission process will be issued following approval of the respective academic streams. The admission guidelines state that philanthropists who adopted a school and undertook development works exceeding Rs 50 lakh in value, or donated a complete school building involving an expenditure of over Rs 50 lakh, will get a specific admission quota. Officials said this would be the only quota applicable in Mahatma Gandhi schools. “Based on the recommendation of such philanthropists, the school concerned is authorised to grant admission to a maximum of 2 students per section, subject to an overall limit of 10 students for the entire school per year. This quota is applicable to seats in addition to the prescribed seat capacity for the classes operating within the said schools,” states an official order.
