Patna: The state education department on Tuesday issued strict directives stating that private schools failing to admit 25% students under the Right to Education (RTE) quota or conducting screening tests during admissions will face legal action and financial penalties.In a letter to all district education officers and district programme officers, primary education director Vikram Virkar said the first violation of RTE provisions would attract a fine of Rs 25,000, while a second offence could lead to a penalty of Rs 50,000. The department also warned that operating a primary school without official recognition could invite a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh, and institutions continuing to function without approval beyond the stipulated period would face a penalty of Rs 10,000 per day.
