Rajkot: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets (DA) case against Chandrasinh Mori, a former deputy mamlatdar in Surendranagar, following an extensive probe that revealed assets far exceeding his known sources of income.Preliminary findings indicate that Mori allegedly amassed assets worth around Rs 1.22 crore — about 56.89% more than his legal income. The action was initiated based on inputs from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), after which a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to examine his financial records. The SIT scrutinised Mori’s income and assets over nearly 12 years, from April 1, 2013, to Dec 31, 2025. Investigators found evidence suggesting that he may have misused his official position to acquire movable and immovable properties in his own name as well as in the names of family members.Officials said this is the second offence registered against Mori. “He was earlier booked along with the then district collector and two others. During the investigation, we found evidence of additional disproportionate assets and registered a fresh case,” said ACB police inspector P A Dekavadiya, who is probing the case under the supervision of assistant director J D Mevada of the Rajkot unit.Mori is currently in judicial custody, and the ACB plans to seek his custodial remand for further interrogation. He was earlier arrested by the ED in a related case that also named former Surendranagar collector Rajendrakumar Patel, his personal assistant Jayrajsinh Zala and clerk Mayursinh Gohil. During that probe, the ED had seized Rs 67.5 lakh in cash from Mori’s residence.
