Mangaluru: CCB police on Tuesday took into custody an offender who had been absconding after securing bail in multiple criminal cases and failing to appear before the court.The accused, Mohammad Abdul Fayaan, 27, a resident of Kalkatta, Manjanady, near Mangaluru, was handed over to Barke police station for further legal action, police said. According to city police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, Fayaan is wanted in connection with 24 criminal cases registered across various police stations in Mangaluru City and Dakshina Kannada district. His offences include theft, attempted murder, and assault on inmates and prison staff while obstructing them from performing their duties.Despite being released on bail in several of these cases, the accused failed to attend court hearings, prompting the issue of 24 warrants against him. Fayaan was involved in a series of thefts targeting govt offices, schools, and shops under the jurisdiction of Konaje, Ullal, Bantwal Town, Bantwal Rural, Uppinangady, Kadaba, and Puttur Town police stations. Police added that several cases were registered against him in different police stations across Kerala as well.
