Mangaluru/Udupi: A man who was absconding after failing to appear before the court in connection with an earlier case has been arrested, and a fresh case has been registered against him.The accused, Nikhil K, 36, is a resident of Malappuram, Kerala. He was involved in a case registered at Puttur Town police station under Sections 323, 504, 506, 406, and 424 of the IPC. He failed to appear before the court for trial and went into hiding.A police team led by sub-inspector Janardhan KM of Puttur Town police station traced and arrested him on Saturday from Kollegal taluk of Chamarajanagar district. He was subsequently produced before the court.It is reported that the accused earlier secured conditional bail but later violated the bail conditions by not appearing for hearings. In this connection, a fresh case has been registered against him at Puttur Town police station under Section 269 of the BNS, and further investigation is underway.Accused in ganja case arrested in UP after 10 yearsSullia police station staff have arrested an accused who was absconding for nearly 10 years in connection with a ganja peddling case. According to police, the accused, Naseem from Uttar Pradesh, was involved in a case registered at Sullia police station under Sections 8(c) read with 20(b) of the NDPS Act and a long-pending case. He had been evading court proceedings for about a decade. A police team comprising head constable Ramesh L, Raju Naik D, and Vikhyath J Gowda traced and arrested the accused on March 20 from Ghajipur in Uttar Pradesh. The accused has been produced before the Sullia court.Warrant-accused arrested in Bengaluru after 15 yearsMalpe police have arrested an absconding warrant accused who had been evading court proceedings for nearly 15 years in connection with cases registered in Udupi. According to police, the accused, Zubair, 42, a resident of Paduthonse village in Udupi, was wanted in several cases. Acting under the guidance of the Udupi sub-division DSP and the circle inspector of Malpe, a team was formed led by Malpe police station sub-inspector (law & order) Anil Kumar D. The team arrested the accused from Shivajinagar in Bengaluru on Sunday, and he was produced before the court on Monday.
